Established in 1963 the Residential Boat Owners' Association exists to act in and to further the interests of boat dwellers on the coasts, rivers and canals of Britain. If you live on a boat, you should definitely consider becoming a member. Or if you don't live on a boat yet, why not start with the Question and Answer or Life Afloat sections?

Information for Marina Developers

One of the questions marina operators ask is 'Why should we have residential or liveaboard boats at our marina?'. We have prepared a list of why we feel that marina operators will find it advantageous and beneficial. Our list can be found here.

Nationwide survey assesses demand for residential boating

As of August 23rd a new survey is being undertaken by British Waterways and the Residential Boat Owners Association to determine what boaters would like from their residential moorings. Waterways Issues

Latest update on the Red Diesel Derogation.(Updated 20th June) This and several new consulation responses, including our latest submission to the Broads Authority can now be found here in the consultation responses section. Over the past few months British Waterways has been inviting people to respond to a Consultation which it has been holding into how it should handle Licence fees for the next few years. Several options were given and comments were invited. Click here to see the submission from the RBOA on behalf of its members.

So you want to live on a boat? Leaflet

In conjunction with British Waterways and the Environment Agency, the RBOA has produced an introductory leaflet for those thinking of living on a boat. If you would like a copy, please send a stamped, self-addressed C5 envelope (i.e. to take a folded A4 sheet) to the RBOA at the address below.
