Residential Boat Owners Association looks to the Future at its AGM

The 55th  Annual General Meeting of the Residential Boat Owners’ Association (RBOA) was held at The Clifford Arms, Great Haywood, Staffs.on 23rd November 2019. Members and committee enjoyed vibrant and constructive discussions about the future and positioning of the Association. It was provisionally agreed to start the process for turning The RBOA into a Charitable Institution, so as to benefit both our members and the greater boating public by developing a better funded body to promote the Association’s remit of its “Cradle to Grave” philosophy. The change would also increase the Association’s horizons for supporters to embrace all people who live afloat, be it on a weekend or on a full time basis, and who aspire to this healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Charles Foster continues as RBOA Chairman,  with Keith  Grantham taking on the role of General Secretary from Beryl McDowall, who will continue as Publicity Officer and Editor of the Association’s bi-monthly magazine, Soundings. Rex Walden remains as Vice Chairman, Dave Milne as Treasurer and Alan Wildman as Development Officer for the Middle Levels and Broads.

The desirability of a new Facebook site was discussed, and a new RBOA Facebook Group has just been launched. Called “Living Afloat with the RBOA”
